Our Ministries

Outreach Ministries

Food Pantry

St. John’s operates a Food Pantry on the third Saturday of each month. It is a “choice” Food Pantry where clients shop by appointment for food items. It is our hope that we may offer a place where folks in need may get fed both physically and spiritually. In addition to the Food Pantry, our Social Ministries are also involved with Operation Christmas Child, the Troop Project, and the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Please contact the church office at 419-837-5115 for more information.

Shared Bounty Thrift Shop

Our Thrift Shop serves local families and individuals who are in need of clean, quality clothes and miscellaneous household items, offering them free of charge or at the cost of a donation. It is our hope that we may offer a place where folks in need may get clothed both physically and spiritually. Shared Bounty is open the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. – Noon on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact the church office at 419-837-5115 for more information.

The Travelers

The Travelers are a group of musicians and singers using their talents to lead the music at worship services. They provide a mix of hymns, campfire songs, gospel songs and patriotic songs. Other ministries that they provide include personal witness, messages, G.A.P.S. day seminars, weekend retreats, and music at charitable and Christian fundraisers. This ministry stands upon 1 Corinthians 9:22 “I have become all things to all people, that I might save some.” You can reach The Travelers by calling the church office at 419-837-5115.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties. Contact the church office at 419-837-5115 if you or someone you know would like to be connected with a Stephen Minister.

Christian Learning

Sunday School

We are given the task as Christians to raise our children in the faith. We have a variety of ways we include our children in preschool through 5th grade , from Sunday School and Bible Adventures (mid-week Lenten activities), to Vacation Bible School and church activities. Our goal is care for the whole family and to have their faith life become a part of their family life. For more information on Children’s Ministry, contact the church office at 419-837-5115.

Youth Ministry

As our children grow, they want to learn more about Christ and find their own identity in their faith. Through first communion, catechism, confirmation, and mission trips this ministry connects students 5th through 12th grade with their faith. For more information on Youth Ministry, contact the church office at 419-837-5115.

Adult Ministry

As adults we continue to grow in our faith and want to be engaged in our faith. At St. John’s we have various opportunities to continue to grow in Christ. These opportunities include Sunday morning Bible Study, Monday Night Bible Study, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America group, Men’s Breakfast Discussion Group, retreats, and other activities through the year. For more opportunities to grow in your faith, contact the church office at 419-837-5115.
